Shaunavon Fire Crews were called out on Tuesday afternoon this week at about 5:10 p.m. to an auger/yard fire seven miles southeast of Shaunavon.

Shaunavon Fire Chief, Dean McNabb, says the farmer was moving a grain auger and hit an overhead power line. The resulting sparks from the line started the grass in the farmyard on fire.

Minimal damage resulted to the farm equipment and there were no injuries.

McNabb reminds everyone to be careful during harvest and always check your surroundings and watch for overhead power lines.

He adds that conditions are still extremely dry in the Shaunavon area and caution is advised.
