A group of Cypress Health Region employees put the fun in fundraiser yesterday afternoon in downtown Swift Current.

The employees formed a fundraising team for a Big Bike ride in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Briana Fifield, Volunteer Service Coordinator with the Cypress Health Region, shares the reasoning behind aiming their generosity towards that particular foundation.

"Well we work in healthcare, so we're trying to give back to the Heart and Stroke Foundation - a cause related to our field of work," she said.

Fifield also discussed the fundraising efforts for the event, after learning of the final tally.

"It's just a good feeling all-around. Our goal was $3500 and we worked really hard to get to that. We ended up surpassing the goal, and we're donating around a total of $4400.00," she said.

A total of $4434.25 to be exact, with Fifield earning the honour of top fundraiser after an $1875.00 donation. However, she says it certainly took a team effort, just as it did to pedal the 30-seat bicycle around the downtown area.

"It was awesome; I'm glad all of my teammates worked really hard to raise the funds and everyone came out to ride the big bike today and help support the foundation."

The Big Bike journey around downtown, aided by a Swift Current City RCMP escort was a task that didn't go unnoticed by the public.
