With the warmer temperatures we've been experiencing many are turning their attention to spring and summer activities, such as camping.

Saskatchewan provincial parks have now changed the way you can book your campsite.

Online bookings are now being taken by visiting saskparks.goingtocamp.com.

Executive Director of Saskatchewan Parks Cindy MacDonald said the new system helps campers organize their summer plans.

“Our camping use has been steadily climbing for the last 5 years at certain times of the summer we have far more demand than we have capacity to accommodate that so this is a way of making sure people can know in advance that they have their summer plans ready”

She adds that feedback from campers showed that the old way of booking was not meeting camper's needs

“It just provides a better service for our visitors, we've been hearing from people for a few years now that the reservation service that we had in place wasn't meeting their needs, now we have put in place a reservation service that is consistent with other jurisdictions cross North America.”

The changes took effect at 8:00 am Monday mornings, at which time their website was bogged down with over 15-thousand visitors.

To book your campsite using the new system visit saskparks.goingtocamp.com.

The website is also accessible using your mobile device.
