A large crowd of people braved the hot temperatures yesterday in Shaunavon to officially kick off Boomtown Days.

The Boomtown Days Beef on a Bun Supper and Street Bingo was held last evening at the Grand Coteau Heritage and Cultural Center.

Joanne Gregoire, from the Grand Coteau Center, said all money raised goes to their children's art and culture programming. "We run several children's programs throughout the year, so it's anything from our school tours, to our summer programming, to our after school art or Lego club, any of those sorts of things all require funds so that's where the money will go."

The Boomtown Days kick off is normally held on the Thursday before Boomtown Days, but due to other activities happening on the Thursday, it was held on Tuesday this year.
