Swift Current Broncos fever is sweeping across the southwest and yesterday even made an appearance on Parliament Hill.

Cypress Hills - Grasslands MP David Anderson made a brief speech Thursday cheering on the Broncos ahead of their playoff run during his Standing Order 31 (a one mintute statement allotted to MPs just before question period).

"I know that the Broncos were going into the playoffs and they've had a great year," he said. "I just felt it was important to recognize them and boost them a little bit and see if we can get even more interest in them. I know southwest Saskatchewan has really been supportive of them this year and I just wanted to point that out."

Although things get heated in the House of Commons sometimes, Anderson said they have some fun when people are trying to boost their communities and convince other people they should be supportive too.

"It was good, we had the member from Medicine Hat was sitting booing everytime I mentioned the Swift Current Broncos," he explained. "Kevin Waugh from Saskatoon was sitting there and he remembered the Memorial Cup in 1989, so we have some hockey fans down here really interested in the statement."

Anderson has been to a game recently he added and is hoping to make it home for a few playoff games this spring, but either way he will be paying close attention to their results in the coming weeks.
