After making a blockbuster deal before the trade deadline, the Swift Current Broncos' chances at a WHL championship appear to have improved. We do know their season ticket sales have increased.

Dianne Sletten, director of business operations, said that they had sold an additional 500 tickets since the trades were made.

"It was absolutely incredible," she said. "There were lineups every day from 9 a.m when we opened to till 5 p.m. when we closed so it was just an unbelievable response. I don't think I would have ever expected that kind of reaction after the trade deadline the support is just unbelievable."

Sletten added that they had people buying tickets from around the southwest.

The Swift Current Online newsroom caught up with some Broncos fan before Saturday's home game and asked them about their excitement for the rest of the season.

"It's very exciting for the new team and to see what they can do," said one Broncos fan. "It's also very exciting to see how the community reacted when they trades were made with the season ticket sales because when you're a small franchise, you need all the finances you can get."

Another fan chimed in, saying he hasn't seen this kind of excitement around the team since moving to the area.

"I haven't been a Broncos fan that long, I've only lived here for five or six years, but this is the most excited I've to been for a Broncos team," he said. "I think last year with them making it to the [East] semifinal changed people from casual fans to more die-hard fans, and I think this year that has continued and the trades this year have kind of help people decide that this was a team that wanted to fully commit to."

A season ticket holder for the Broncos said that he was happy to see the Broncos go all out this season.

"Well, it was either all in or nothing. You can’t stop halfway. Either you go and do it and give up what you had to give up to get the trades you felt you needed to win this. We (the fans) feel really good about what's happened."

He added that he's been watching the Broncos since the mid-1980s and said there hadn't been this much excitement surrounding a team since 1989 when the Broncos won the Memorial Cup.

One Broncos fan said the Broncos went all out; the fans are going all out by buying season tickets. Something that Dianne Sletten said described the recent influx of ticket sales perfectly.

"That's a great way to put it," she said. "People are really excited and can't wait for the last half of the season and then to head into playoffs."

With the additional 500 tickets, the Broncos now have 2,250 season tickets sold for the year and counting.
