Yesterday Cam Broten, the leader of the provincial NDP held a conference call with the media and laid out the party's focus heading into the spring legislative session.

Broten said the NDP's main focus are: health  care provision for seniors, education and the high cost of living for Saskatchewan families.

"When we have situations where seniors are left in a long-term care bed in diapers and aren't even receiving one bath a week, that isn't acceptable," Broten said, before adding that there need to be minimum care standards and the right decisions need to be made so our loved ones get the care they need.

Broten also said there needs to be a shift in focus on how we look at our provinces wealth.

"What I've heard from families is that there is happiness and pleasure when things are going well in the province, when the numbers are good for the province. But, there is a concern when that doesn't translate to making life better on a month-to-month and day-to-day basis."

The conference call lasted a half-hour and the leader took several questions from the media.
