A little less than two years into her term as a trustee with the Chinook School Board, Shannon Armstrong has resigned, meaning a vote to replace her could be in the cards.

Armstrong, who represented Subdivision 6 (comprising Shaunavon, Eastend, and Frontier), had her resignation accepted, with regret, by the school board at yesterday afternoon's meeting.

At yesterday's school division meeting, Vice Chair and Trustee of Subdivision 5 (Maple Creek, Consul) Kim Pridmore noted being a trustee is a major time commitment, and Armstrong is busy with being a full-time nurse and mother.

Armstrong was not present, but the board did applaud her.

Now a byelection is on the horizon. October 24 will be the vote if there are two or more people running for the vacancy.

Rural municipalities ending in even numbers have a vote the same day.

Locations for a potential vote to replace Armstrong won't be figured out until it's determined there will be a vote.
