As you're getting ready to hit the road this long weekend, CAA Saskatchewan is once again reminding you to drive safely.

Director of Communications Lisa Wilson-Sturm says they are asking drivers to be aware of increased traffic and construction, to avoid speeding, and never drink and drive.

"Traditionally, the May long weekend does, of course, bring increased traffic," explains Wilson-Sturm. "That's not just vehicles, but also cyclists and pedestrians. To top it off, you have road construction that's starting, so there are detours on the road."

She adds driving safely can make you a more fuel-efficient driver and save you some money at the gas pump, as well, it can help the environment.

Wilson-Sturm says some ways to be more fuel efficient on the road are to make sure your vehicle is in top condition with properly inflated tires, and plan your route carefully so you're not driving unnecessary kilometres.
