The Shaunavon Airport is one of 15 community and regionally-owned airports in the province to receive money from the Community Airport Partnership or CAP Program.

The Government of Saskatchewan is giving the Town of Shaunavon $33,100, which is earmarked for runway repairs.

Grants are cost-shared on a 50/50 basis up to a maximum amount and are used to enhance infrastructure so that community airports can continue to serve the growing province.

Shaunavon Chief Administrative Officer, Tara Fritz, says up-keep at the airport is very important to the entire area. She adds, "General Maintenance to the Airport is never a bad thing. So we need to keep up with maintaining before we have to replace."

Fritz says work will begin at the Shaunavon Airport as soon as possible.
