The Shaunavon Music Festival Association was held recently celebrating the 85th anniversary of the organization.

At this year's Festival, there were roughly 47 participants from all over the southwest entered in 117 categories.

Nancy Phillips is the President of The Shaunavon Music Festival Association. She talks about why the Music Festival is so popular. "I think just the love of music, and the love of teaching music definitely helps as well, and the parents believe in the kids and the teachers and it just kinda keeps us going."

Phillips says they had about 40 spectators through the doors each day of the week long event and they raised $4,000. $2,000 of that was distributed in scholarships to the participants and the remainder goes back into the organization.

Three participants this year will go on to Provincials which are happening in May.
