The federal government had more cash to hand out in the region as they announced $25,000 for a new cenotaph in Morse.

Cypress Hills Grasslands MP David Anderson said the funding comes from the Community War Memorial Program.

"Morse had applied for this. We've got a couple other communities in the riding who have also applied and will be getting money from this as well," explained Anderson. "The purpose of it is to make sure that we can remind communities, young Canadians and their families about the achievements and sacrifices that our veterans have made."

The project includes installing a concrete surround pad, a concrete walkway framed with red stepping stones, two granite benches and a flagpole. It will be unveiled during Morse's centennial in August.

Anderson said the same program will fund the renovation of the cenotaph in Elrose.

"This program actually goes towards both building new memorials and will also go towards rebuilding older ones," said Anderson.
