census 2011

More results from the 2011 Census show that Swift Current may be getting younger, despite an overall increase in the number of seniors in Canada.

The age and sex data released by Stats Canada on Tuesday shows a 14.1% increase in the number of people aged 65 or older across the country when compared to the last census in 2006. Swift Current actually saw a 2.7% decrease in the number of people 65-plus, and a 6.4% increase in those between the ages of 15 and 64.

There were also 2.7% more children under the age of 14 in the city, and the number of octegenarians, those older than 80, increased by three per cent.
