Pictures that mark the last 100 years of our history are featured in a new Swift Current Centennial Calendar that is now on sale.

With Swift Current's centennial year coming up in 2014, this calendar represents the past 10 decades of our colourful history.

"It has information going back to 1914 going through to 2014, kind of the special days I guess over the course of the year and you know the highlight moments that happened over the course of time so yeah it does represent everything over the past century," said Elden Moberg, Communications Chair with the Centennial Committee.

Moberg says the museum staff put a lot of work in picking out the right photos to recognize our history.

"If you're kind of passionate about the community they have a lot of history items in there. The museum staff put a lot of work into this over the past 6 months just to make sure that this is a real good keepsake for all of those people who are looking for something for gifts or just enjoy some history and have been passionate about the city," said Moberg.

The images and stories came from The Swift Current Museum's archive, and curator Lloyd Begley says it was hard to decide which events made the cut.

"We have so many great pieces that could have been included. But there was only so much space available so we needed to really focus on those people and significant events that we felt have most impacted the city in bringing it to the place it is today. Some of the events are large and some are small, but each has played an integral role," said Begley.

The proceeds go towards the three big events planned for Swift Current's Centennial next year starting with Centennial Day.

"January 15th is Centennial Day, coming up here in just over a month and then the home coming at the end of June and then the kind of the wrap up event in November next year in conjunction with the Downtown Business Association and their Christmas Tree Lighting," said Moberg.

They sell for $10 and are available at the Swift Current Museum located across from the Wheatland Mall and from City Hall in downtown Swift Current.
