Principal Bryan Braun speaks to students at Central School

The vote came down to the wire as the whole city of Swift Current waits to find out of Central Elementary School was successful in their bid for a $20,000 outdoor classroom.

The school held a scavenger hunt in the final hours on Friday to encourage any last votes they could get.

The results page of the Majesta "Trees of Knowledge" contest had Central swapping between first and second place with Sussex Elementary School in New Brunswick.

Sussex appeared to be ahead in the final hour of the vote, but Swift Current Deputy Mayor Ryan Plewis tweeted once the deadline passed that Central was "number one when the contest closed."

The Majesta website now only says that they will announce a winner on May 29th.

Ten schools were nominated from across the country for the online vote. The winner receives $20,000 towards the construction of an outdoor classroom.
