Central School continued to break its own record as the school set a new high for the amount of money raised for Telemiracle.

Friday afternoon at a pep rally the school unveiled that they raised $13,444 for the charity.

Celia Hammerton is the music teacher at Central School and will be taking the Central School choir along with the money to Telemiracle on Sunday.

She talked about what it means to be able to raise the money.

"I'm just so overwhelmed by the generosity of people and with how hard my choir students and parents have worked and also all the students at Central School to raise this kind of money," she said. "I know it's going to make a difference."

Hammerton added that the over 13,000 dollars raised is the most they've ever raised for Telemiracle.

"This is actually the largest amount we've raised," she said. "Each time we've been to Telemiracle we've raised a little bit more, and I think last year we raised $12,000, and we didn't have a particular goal this year, but it's great to be able to raise a little more this year."

The pep rally also featured a performance from the choir's bucket drummers and a performance from school staff. But the rally also featured Principal Angela Schindel, and Vice Principal Mark Reiter being duct taped to the gym wall.

Hammerton explained that the Spirit club had made a bet that if they raised $2,000 both the Principal and Vice Principal would have to be taped to a wall.

"The spirit club has been helping to do some of the fundraisings," she said. "They managed to raise $2,000, and I think that helped us to raise money because I think the students were really excited about the prospect of doing this."

Hammerton added that she and the choir are excited to perform this Sunday.

"We're excited to finally get on the big stage with the big lights and the telephones and be apart of this great event."

Hammerton and the Central School Choir is set to perform at 1:10 p.m. at Telemiracle.
