The Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce is firing back against a recent proposal made by the Federal Government.

The proposed changes would remove what the Liberals call three "loopholes," on the tax system.

"We as a local chamber of commerce requested commentary from several of the accounting firms and the financial planning offices," said Karla Wiens CEO of the Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce. "We want to get their thoughts so we can forward them on (to the government) because this is going to affect all Canadians."

Wiens said the Liberals are missing the mark on their targetted one per cent.

"It's going to affect all private corporations in Canada," Wiens said. "That will include all of our small business owners and Swift Current is very entrepreneurial so any small business owner in Swift Current, farming families that have incorporated. There are such far reaching implications on what the government is proposing."

A 75-day consultation period for the Canadian government to hear concerns on their proposal wraps up October 2.
