Two Shaunavon community groups are working together to raise funds for their organizations through The Chase the Ace fundraiser which is happening now each Thursday night at The Elks Hall over the next year.

The Shaunavon Elks Club and The Rock Creek Golf Club are holding the fundraiser to raise much needed dollars for their clubs .

Oren Scribner is the President of The Rock Creek Golf Club. He says money from the fundraiser will help their club fight back from some obstacles. "The Golf Club due to various reasons, bad weather, bad luck, things have been breaking and memberships have dropped. We were in to our Line of Credit $20,000 from the last year. We've been starting the last four or five years in a negative position at the start of the year."

Scribner says the Chase the Ace will help cover operating expense for the club.

The Shaunavon Elks Club are looking at using money from the fundraiser for upkeep and maintenance on their hall, as well as some other projects.

Kyle Stevenson is the Publicity Director for The Elks Club. He says, "Always, in the past, The Elks have always donated back to the community. It will go back to The Music Festival. We make donations to KidSport and also for The Elks and Royal Purple Fund for Children, and also SPARC, which is our Saskatchewan Pediatric Audiology Research Center."

Stevenson adds that the local Elks Club membership numbers have been staying steady over the past few years.

The Chase the Ace fundraiser has the potential to raise $25,000 for each club.
