pinkshirt

Put on your pink shirts to stand up against bullying today.

Chinook School Division Youth Worker Carlin Darby said it's the second time they've participated this school year, “Chinook promoted a stand up to bullying in the fall and we felt it was a good initiative to carry on and kinda promote once again in the spring so that we can keep it fresh of our students and staff to stand up against bullying.”

Darby adds that students can stand up to bullying by wearing pink today, “So kids will be wearing pink shirts or anything that they have is pink. I know in some schools they are doing marches around their communities to promote anti-bullying as well as different activites at their schools”

She said it is making a difference, “The more you put it out there and explain it to them the different levels and the different ways it affects people the more they start to understand it.”

Darby feels the more often they can send this message the more likely it gets through to the kids.
