They might not turn you into the next Graeme DeLaet, but Chinook Golf Course will have new carts this spring.

City council approved a four-year operating lease worth $204,660 for 46 carts from Oakcreek Golf and Turf. That's $51,165 annually spread over six equal payments from May to October each year.

Forty-five of the 2018 Yamahas are electric carts, plus one gas-powered marshal cart.

The carts were the least expensive option of four proposals the City received, and the feeling around council Monday was that they're solid, if not quite on the Rodney Dangerfield-in-Caddyshack level of extravagent. (They won't putt the ball in for you.)

The three other proposals received by the City ranged in total cost from $222,480 to $298,080.

GST will be added to the cost, but lease payments are exempt from PST, as it is paid on cart rentals at the course.

The four-year lease term is standard for Chinook, and is based on battery usage for carts and their usage.
