There will be a contingent of Swift Current Fire Fighter today in Rosetown to pay their respects to fallen firefighter Darrell Morrison.

Morrison was a volunteer with the Rosetown Fire Department and was struck and killed by a semi last Wednesday while attending a collision between two other semis.

Peter L'Heureux, a deputy fire chief with the Swift Current Fire Department, said it's vital to rally together as a firefighting community when these sort of incidents happen.

"I think as a community it's very important for us to support each other, it is a family," he said. "Those people volunteer to protect their communities in the same type of way as every fire department does, they're there to protect their community and do their best. I think it's important to show respect to their departments, their communities and the family that we talk about, I think it's important for us to show respect and be there for them."

The City's department is expected to have 5 or 6 firefighters attend the 2 p.m. celebration of life at the Rosetown & District Civic Centre.
