Swift Current is getting government funding to make life easier for immigrants in the city.

Communications and Grants coordinator John Statton said, “We've successfully applied for fifteen thousand dollars from the Ministry of Advanced Education Employment and Immigration, to develop online municipal information for immigrants.”

Statton adds that they will partner with the Newcomer Welcome Centre to promote the city as a destination and make the transition to life here easier, “Really going to showcase that the reasons to live in Swift Current and what we offer as a community. Not only City services that we offer but we're also partnering with the Newcomer Welcome Centre.”

The site will start in English but they hope it will eventually be available in six languages.
