The City of Swift Current will be getting a trio of new computer servers to replace eight older ones.

The least expensive of three quotations came in at $181,811.48 from CDW Canada Corp in Toronto, and that's what the City decided to go with.

That $181,811.48 includes PST but not the five per cent GST. Initially $189,000 was approved to be budgeted for the purchase, which includes the supply and delivery of the Natanix Multi Node Servers.

General Manager of Corporate Services Kathy Hopfner said the new servers would likely last roughly five years.

The City says the new servers are more powerful and can run more applications, which should make maintenance more efficient, as well as cut down on power usage.
