Beginning tonight, the City of Swift Current will be helping their residents fight back against fraud.

The presentations, which is part of the City's Being Senior initiative, will be focusing on fraud prevention for seniors.

"The goal of these presentations is to help seniors identify when they're being contacted by someone who is looking to commit fraud or a scam, so they can identify that situation and prevent it from happening," said Michael Boutilier, Communications & Stakeholder Relations Coordinator for the City of Swift Current.

The City is partnering with the Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism to make the presentation available free-of-charge to the community.

Program Coordinator with Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism Michel Sorensen will be making the presentations on Thursday and Friday.

"She is a resident expert on this particular topic," Boutilier added. "She agreed to come to our community and do a bunch of presentations for us, so we are really excited about the opportunity to present to our local senior community."

According to the Government of Canada, seniors are the most targeted demographic, with fraud being the number one crime against seniors in the country.

Tonight's presentation will be held at Pharmasave starting at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room, with tomorrow's presentation beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the great room at Riverview Village Estates.
