We've had just a taste of some of the snowfall expected this winter, and city crews are now preparing for another busy season ahead.

According to Mac Forster, Director of Engineering with the city, equipment and workers are ready for when we do receive that expected dumping of snow.

"Equipment is fully ready to undertake any snow removal needs," Forster said. "Typically we put about half a million dollars worth of effort into snow removal."

Approximately 70-80 kilometers of roads are targeted for scheduled snow removal every year in Swift Current.

"Because of the design of some of our streets we have to remove the snow and take it to snow dump," Forster said.

The city has two sanding units and will focus on hills, curves and intersections when conditions are icy.
