Rough grading is set to begin in Swift Current's newest sub-division.

After beginning to lay out some of the engineering details over the summer, the city has decided to move ahead with hiring a local company to begin rough grading the site of the Saskatchewan Valley sub-division, which is north of the hospital.

Director of Engineering Mac Forster says it could be a few more years before residential lots are offered in the area.  Based on what they see right now, Forster says they will be pushing the development ahead quite quickly, particularly after the Highland sub-division lots are exhausted.

While $300,000 was set aside for this phase in the recent city budget, the contract for Phase 1 of the rough grading is currently just under $286,000.
