The City of Swift Current will be offering some extra transportation in the coming days to accommodate Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada activities.

Friday night they will have shuttles running from the Innovation Credit Union iPlex to the Cabaret at the Stockade and to the downtown transit hub every 15 minutes from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. for people with Alumni & Celebrity Classic tickets.

Nicole Spenst, recreation/scheduling superintendent for the City of Swift Current, said they're hoping the free transportation will bring out more people to the Hockey Day in Canada activities.

"We wanted to ensure you could go out and enjoy your night and have a safe ride home," she said.

Saturday buses will be running every 10 minutes from the iPlex to Riverdene Park where the Hockey Day in Canada Outdoor Festival will be held.

"We knew parking would be limited at Riverdene Park for the outdoor festival, so we wanted to make sure we could get as many residents down there as possible," Spenst said.

Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada festivities kickoff in Swift Current tonight at the Living Sky Casino with Ron MacLean and Bryan Trottier.
