As Market Square festivities wind down for the year, a great way to get the most out of the farmers market experience presented itself on Saturday by showcasing classic and interesting vehicles.

The Market Square Cruising the Market show and shine brought out vehicles of all shapes and sizes to participate in the contest.

There were around 100 cars all in attendance at the event which took place on 1st Avenue North East from the intersection of Herbert Street East to Chaplin Street East.

This year 18 awards were given out to various car owners at the event, with categories including peoples choice, participant choice, and longest distance traveled to get to the show.

The vehicle that traveled the most distance to make it to the event was Don Sinclair's 1984 Buick Regal Limited, which drove 700 kilometers to the show from St. Albert, Alberta.

The car show has been held in cooperation with Market Square since the farmers market started eight years ago.

Tim Marcus, who was involved with setting up the car show, said that the show was a good way of finding a new way to advertise Market Square to those who may be less likely to pay a visit.

"It gets a lot of people out who want to come to look at the cars and it gets them to the market and then perhaps they come to other markets, it's just good to have more people out and take a look at everything, and the cars are always fun to look at."
