A strong storm system made its presence known last night.

A severe thunderstorm making it's way through Southwest Saskatchewan late last night, causing problems for many of the communities it travelled through, including the City of Swift Current and the Town of Shaunavon.

Strong wind gusts brought trees down into the streets, knocked out power for most residents, and even caused extensive damage to a number of grain bins just north of the city.

Those gusts so strong in fact, that Environment Canada had speeds recorded over 100 km/h at times in some portions of the southwest.

While clean-up is expected to continue over the next little while, it looks like the weather should be returning to more seasonable conditions for the remainder of the Canada Day long weekend.
