The month of February wrapped up earlier this week making it one of the coldest in a couple decades.

Not since 1994 in Swift Current has the average temperature in February been colder than it was this year.

This year's average was -16.7 C, something Environment Canada Meteorologist John Paul Cragg, said a lot of southern and central Saskatchewan endured in February.

"This has definitely been a cold February," he said. "Top 15 coldest [in 133 years of Swift Current records], however there have been a lot colder February's in the past."

The average temperature for the second month of the year is -8.2 C, and the coldest month ever recorded in February for Swift Current was -26.6 C back in 1936. Sticking with the 1930s in term of record, 1931 recorded the warmest February on record at -0.2 C.
