The Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association has announced the winners of this year's Saskatchewan Communities in Bloom Program.

And, for the second year in a row, the community of Eastend has won their population category, which is 501-1,000 people. Plus, they have received a special mention for their Town Square.

Rosa Vazquez-Ring is the Officer in charge of Tourism and Economic Development for the Town of Eastend. She says the win is all about teamwork. "And it's basically a team effort because, as you know, small communities have to work with very small budgets. So, our biggest capital are our residents and our amazing volunteers. So, the Town works with them to make our town prosper. And this award basically belongs to all the volunteers and the residents."

The Communities in Bloom Program looks at Tidiness, Environmental Action, Heritage Conservation, Urban Forestry, Landscape and Floral Display.

Eastend will be recognized at the Annual SPRA Awards Gala this October in Maple Creek.
