Southwest Saskatchewan residents are set to endure significant weather changes during this Easter weekend.

With the beginning of April's temperatures feeling more like summer, this weekend's weather will return to normal with a possibility of some precipitation.

"It's definitely going to get cold enough for a few snowflakes to fall," John Paul Cragg, Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada said. "With this current system moving out Saturday, you might see a few flakes falling later on Saturday. When we are talking about flurries we aren't talking about anything accumulating on the ground."

Thursday's high was 20 degrees and Saturday night's low is projected to be minus 9, a 29-degree difference in just over 48 hours.

"Right now the southwest has warm air being pulled up from the states and that is fueling this low pressure system that is going to be moving into central Saskatchewan," he said. "In behind is that cold artic air that's going to be streaming back down into the province."

Cragg added that next week temperatures will move back into normal day highs which are 12 degrees with overnight lows around the freezing mark.
