At Monday's meeting, Swift Current City Council approved a proposal for a new 70-unit Personal Care Home to be built in the city.

Swift Current is the only city in Saskatchewan without one of these level 1 and 2 care homes, and a initiative group of concerned citizens was formed two years ago to help bring one here.

Councillor Gord Budd sits on the group, and says although this is welcome news, more needs to be done to help seniors.

Budd adds as our population ages, we will need more facilities for the elderly, so adding a personal care home will be a step in the right direction.
