Crimes in Swift Current seem to be on the decline this year.

That coming from the latest statistics released by the City RCMP, as they presented their regular report at City Council this week.

Staff Sgt. Al MacDonnell says he attributes that to new strategies being used by detachment members concerning repeat offenders.

MacDonnell says there are three categories that have seen the biggest decreases, those being Theft under $5000, Mischief, and other Criminal Code offences.

Meanwhile, RCMP are investigating a recent incident of vandalism at the Kiwanis SK8 Park in Swift Current. The incident happened sometime around August 28th and September 2nd, a large amount of graffiti was discovered and the concrete sign at the entrance of the park was found to be damaged.

Police say anyone with information are asked to contact City RCMP or Saskatchewan Crimestoppers.
