Over the weekend and the last couple days, Swift Current has seen nothing but rain.

According to Environment Canada Meteorologist Terri Lang that won't be a trend that continues on for the rest of summer as it's looking like another dry year for farmers and ranchers.

"Our seasonal forecasts are educated guessing at best," she said. "We don't put to much stock into them just a generalized picture, and it is calling for above average temperatures and below average precipitation for most of Western Canada."

Lang said luckily some parts of the province has been able to get much-needed rain.

"Some of the others parts of the province has been able to pick up some rain, but it's sort of been in the form of some heavier thundershowers over eastern sections they've been getting quite a bit of rain," she said. "They've been quite dry over the last couple years so it's good to see it but some of them are coming down in big thundershowers, and that's not so good."

Over the weekend Swift Current saw just under 14 millimetres at the airport and one volunteer observer came in with 15.5 millimetres.
