Physicians in Saskatchewan have been without a contract for 19 months and have been bargaining with the Provincial Government on a new one for two years.

A meeting in Swift Current yesterday with doctors from the city and around the southwest was held to update them on where negotiations stand right now.

President of the SMA for the Cypress Health Region, Dr. Suresh Kassett, says not having a contract makes it difficult to retain physicians.

Kassett says Saskatchewan remains far behind other provinces for after-hour payment.
