Town of Shaunavon crews worked throughout the night last night to restore water services and repair a water valve on third avenue east.

Town of Shaunavon CAO, Tara Fritz, explained that, when crews turned off the valve last night to swab the lines, a couple of the bolts broke  off.

The valve repair resulted in a localized depressurization, and therefore drinking water safety cannot be ensured at all times.

A Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory was issued late last night for residents and users of water on third avenue between first street east and Center Street. This is the only area affected by the Advisory, which will remain in effect until further notice.

Water Main Swabbing continues today in the community. Fritz says that it does take longer than three hours for crews to swab the lines. "Depending, it takes them about an hour, an hour and a half or so to get all the valves closed. So they've got to turn valves before they can start the actual swabbing."

Sections two and three have been completed and crews are preparing to begin section 4.

Section four is from Railway Street north to third avenue east, west to second street east, then north to tenth avenue, east to third street east and south to sixth avenue east.
