The driver involved in Friday's single vehicle rollover just east of Swift Current on the Trans-Canada Highway sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Around 1:15 p.m. emergency crews were called to the scene and before they had even arrived the Mazda SUV caught fire in the ditch of the eastbound lane.

Gina Wheeler, a corporal with the RCMP, said on the way to the collision they could see a big cloud of black smoke.

"The vehicle was in the southbound ditch on fire and the grass around the vehicle was also on fire," she said. "We ended up stopping traffic from coming through the eastbound traffic on Highway 1 just to ensure everybody's safety."

The female driver was helped out of her car by some people driving by and was being loaded into the ambulance when Wheeler was arriving.
