Southwest Saskatchewan got its first blast of winter this weekend, covering area streets and highways with snow, slush and ice.

Roads in the region are still quite slippery, so do take care if you head out today. Icy conditions are still being reported by the Ministry of Highways in the Swift Current area. The road conditions may have been a factor in a scary accident in the city Sunday night, where emergency crews responded to a collision between a car and a semi truck loaded with 2000 pounds of explosives on Highway 1 near 11th Ave NW. The Swift Current Fire Department secured the scene while crews removed the semi, which took around 4 hours. Luckily no one was injured.

No more snow is expected in the latest forecast from Environment Canada, with temperatures expected to climb throughout the week.
