Last night the Drug Strategy Action Committee held a free swim at the Aquatic Centre as a way to help develop people in the community.

The committee's spokesperson Patti Dekowny said they want to provide recreational activities for families and young people to do free of charge.

"This is all based on the 40 developmental assets that we base our prevention activities on," she said. "The goal is to help raise the number of assets each young person has to help them be successful. The swim is based on the asset of constructive use of time."

She said while attendance was down it was still fun, and a way for the non-profit organization to be in the community since rebranding recently from their old name - the Swift Current Drug Task Force.
