Lots of power outages throughout the southwest over the last couple of days.

They began in Swift Current on Friday afternoon around 3 p.m. when a broken piece of equipment on a high-voltage transmission line near Morse.

Jordan Jackle, a spokesperson for SaskPower, said that it was completely fixed and power was restored to the Hodgeville and Morse area around 3:30 a.m. the next day.

"Transmission outages in the event of a structure that has suffered some damage are pretty complex fixes," he explained. "Just given the size of the structure themselves and the specialization that's required to perform those fixes."

The fix was a permanent fix according to Jackle, who said the issue was with a cross-brace at the top of the structure which the wires connect to.

The other outages were in the Maple Creek area Saturday night and Sunday as a result of some thunderstorms moving through the area. Jackle added that there are still some pockets of people in between Maple Creek and Meadow Lake still without power.
