An extreme cold warning has been issued for Swift Current, amongst a number of surrounding communities, and the mercury seems content to stay on the lower level of the thermometer,

Environment Canada says wind chill values making things feel colder than -40 C are expected tonight, and extreme cold is poised to persist in these parts until Friday.

Environment Canada says they give these warnings when temperatures are very cold, or the wind chill bumps up health risks such as hypothermia or frostbite.

The warning was also issued for Herbert, Cabri, Kyle, Lucky Lake, Leader, and Gull Lake.
