With the Government of Saskatchewan announcing yesterday, that youth under the age of 18 will no longer be allowed to use indoor tanning beds, sun tan studio, Fabutan appears to be in favour with the decision.
The ban came as no surprise to President of Fabutan and the Joint Canadian Tanning Association, Mat Rockey, and he says, they had already put their own ban in place.
"At Fabutan, along with all other Joint Canadian Tanning Association Professional salons, we actually haven't been tanning people under the age of 18 since July of 2014, so we currently don't allow people under 18 to use our sunbeds as it is".
Rockey did add, however, with a doctor's note, youth under the age of 18 can still use the indoor tanning beds.
"We want to make sure that when folks are prescribed UV therapy, or a sunbed session, or a photo therapy session, which are all essentially tanning beds, we wanted to make sure that person would have access to a bed".
The ban is expected to be implemented this summer.
