On October 11th at approximately 11:25 a.m., RCMP in Swift Current received a call regarding a single vehicle collision on the #1 Highway approximately 4 km west of the community of Rush Lake.  The vehicle involved in the collision was a SUV that was traveling westbound and had two occupants; an 18 year old female driver from Craven, SK and a 19 year old female from Regina, SK.  Also attending to the scene was EMS and Fire emergency personnel from Swift Current. 

The 18 year old female driver was pronounced deceased at the scene while the 19 year old was transported to the Cypress Regional Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.  Bystanders who were on scene shortly after the collision pulled the unconscious 19 year old out of the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames likely saving the life of the 19 year old.

An RCMP Traffic Analyst attended to the scene to further investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.  Next of kin notification has been completed on the 18 year old victim.  Family have not consented to the release of the name of the deceased at this time.
