The Government of Saskatchewan's budget has been pushed further into the red than previously expected.

Brad Wall's Sask Party released the province's third quarter financial update Monday, showing a forecasted deficit of $427 million dollars, considerably higher than the $262 million dollar deficit forecast from the mid year numbers.

Revenue collected by the government from non renewable resources are down $617 million dollars this year.

Finance Minister Kevin Doherty told the legislature beyond forest fire costs, which ran upwards of $100 million, the Sask Party government was able to control spending.
