They won the Ed Chenoweth Cup as WHL champs, making it to the Memorial Cup in Regina, but the financial side of the 2017-18 campaign was also very strong for the Swift Current Broncos.

Dianne Sletten is stepping aside from her role as the team's director of business operations, and she said what the organization needs going forward is different than what it needed when she joined six years ago.

"I think it is a different skillset that they might be looking for than when they hired me," she said.

"At that time it was kind of somebody to try to build some more relationships, build the partnerships, and get the community back on side, take a look at the organization, and make some changes to make it more sustainable, and look at accountability and processes and stuff, and we've done that over the six years I've been here and made some significant changes... I think it's more you need somebody with some business experience, and can really take it to that next level."

Sletten's happy with what she and her business team accomplished in her time with the team - and she will be sticking around for a few months yet, and is willing to help in the transition phase once the Broncos hire a replacement.

In terms of the on-ice product, there could be some rebuilding ahead of the Broncos. Sletten said it's important from a business perspective to focus on sustainability.

"Certainly it's going to be the challenge, but what I think is we've built this over the six-year period. Yes, it was extremely high this year, but of those 2,409 season ticket holders that we got, we've had very few say 'no, I'm not coming back next year.' I think we've built that excitement. I think we just continue on with the marketing and the promotions that we've done, we'll be able to keep that going on in the rink as well. I'm excited for the new staff we've hired as well. They're young, they've got new ideas, and I think that's going to be a part of what happens in the next few years as well, is to keep that going."
