Ten people were injured after an explosion and fire at an oil refinery in Regina Thursday.

The blast at the Co-op Refinery-Upgrader Complex, located on the northeast edge of the city, occurred at around 2:00pm and forced the evacuation of employees at the plant. The explosion is said to have been caused by a release of hydrogen gas and diesel fuel.

Two people were treated at the scene and eight were sent to hospital with burns, but the extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.
