Canadian fiddle champion Scott Woods and his band are playing the Lyric Theatre a week from tonight in Swift Current.

"You certainly don't  have to be a fiddle fan to enjoy our show or a country music fan," Woods said.

The uplifting show will include traditional and gospel songs, inspirational stories, family humour, step-dancing and more.  Known as the Flipping Fiddler, Scott Woods sometimes does somersaults onstage and walks on a barrel while fiddling.

He says the Lyric audience is in for a treat next week.

"Fiddle music, in general, is fun music - it's associated with dancing, kitchen parties and happy times. Also, fiddling represents the simplicity of life that a lot of us are longing for. You think back to grandpa's way of life long before cell phones and computers, the pioneers who build this country used that fiddle music as entertainment."

Advance tickets are available at Pharmasave. The show starts at 7pm on Tuesday.
