A two-month investigation by the Regina Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) and Swift Current Municipal RCMP resulted in three arrests relating to drug trafficking on November 8, and two of the three defendants are in court next week.

Derek Ruest (born January 30, 1988), Cassie Yorke (February 22, 1989), and Lionel Lepage (October 24, 1966) - all from the Swift Current area - were charged after an investigation that included 2,200 man hours according to Gary Hodges - staff sergeant with the Swift Current Municipal RCMP.

After appearances on December 6 in Swift Current Provincial Court, Ruest and Yorke had their cases adjourned to December 20. Lepage appears again February 7.

Ruest and Yorke were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking of cocaine and hydromorphone.

Lepage was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking of hydromorphone, possessing a prohibited weapon - which was a switch blade, possessing Canadian currency of a value over $5,000 obtained by crime, as well as possession of weapons that were dog repellent and pepper spray. Some charges against Lepage go back to September 19.

At City council December 4, Hodges called the investigation a "fairly substantial investment in time" that included 19 different members coming in to investigate.
