A racist Facebook post has resulted in a man from Morse resigning from his role as president of the Winnipeg Rifles junior football team.

Todd Wilson, who reportedly hasn't lived in Morse for a number of years, sent the post at the Winnipeg Jets playoff hockey game on Saturday.

He implied that the man selling beer must have been African-Canadian defenceman P.K. Subban, who plays for the Nashville Predators (who were eliminated last round by Winnipeg).

Wilson, who still seems to be the deputy commissioner for the Canadian Junior Football League, deleted his post and told the newsroom in an email he regrets his actions.

"I regret the post and any impact that it inadvertently had on others. I've removed the post and apologized for my actions. I have a long history in amateur sport and believe strongly in the opportunities it provides for building character. I've enjoyed my time serving the football community in Winnipeg and believe in the values of inclusiveness, team and respect for others."

The CJFL commissioner also touched on the matter in a statement.

"On May 12, the Canadian Junior Football League’s Deputy Commissioner made an insensitive Facebook post while at a hockey game. His comments offended several individuals and groups, and are not consistent with the values of the CJFL to provide opportunities for all individuals 18-22 years of age. The CJFL does not support or stand by the comments and we want to offer our apologies to anyone who was hurt by the immature behaviour."
